Bass Lake

There are three centers of activity at Bass Lake -- The Pines Village on the northeast side of the lake, The Forks Resort on the west side of the lake, and Miller's Resort near the southern end of the lake.  You'll find picnic areas and campgrounds on the west side of the lake, along with hiking trails to the top of Goat Mountain and more leisurely Way-of-the-Mono trail.  Boat launching is available, including a public launch at the south end of the lake.  While the forest is less dense than it was in 2010 and earlier, that has opened more vistas to enjoy.  Most Bass Lake homes are on the north and eastern sides of the lake.  

Bass Lake offers swimming, fishing, jet skiing, and boating.  A leisurely day on the water in a patio boat or pontoon is always delightful.  Being a reservoir, Bass Lake water levels are at their highest Memorial Day through Labor Day, diminishing to minimal levels in December or January, to allow plenty of room for the upcoming spring snowmelt to again fill the lake.  The annual Fishing Derby is usually held the first weekend in May; the 4th of July Boat Parade and Fireworks is another Bass Lake tradition, which has occurred on the 4th, whether on a weekday or a weekend.  There are other activities, such as Arts & Craft Fairs, car and boat shows, Christmas tree lighting and parade, organized runs and even a triathlon.  Conference facilities and weddings are available at Bass Lake year-round.  

While Bass Lake can have a fair amount of activity during the summer months, it is quietest November through March, making it extra appealing for those who live here year-round.  Vacation rentals are also busiest during the summer but offered throughout the year; most campgrounds and picnic areas are open from the spring into autumn.
